After a long and close race, Ituna was named the Kraft Hockeyville 2017 runner-up. O鈥橪eary, P.E.I won the first place prize. However, Karla Sauve of the Hockeyville organizing committee in Ituna said second place was still a victory for the town.

Local team brings trophy home to Kenaston

The Preeceville Pats midget hockey team which includes Kamsack players, brought home the B-side banner after playing in a best-of-three games series against Grenfell.

The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute senior girls basketball team ended its season at the regional competition in Indian Head March 17 and 18.

Normally not every Canora child would have the opportunity to enjoy a day of snowshoeing and healthy eating, but from March 20 to 24 they were able to do just that, said Brandi Zavislak, Canora Community Development Officer.

The second annual Canora Sno-Pitch Tournament was held on March 18 at the Canora Sportsgrounds. Kerry Fullawka, one of the organizers, said this event is something that can involve almost everyone in the community.

The Canora Composite School senior boys basketball team travelled to Maidstone on March 17 to take part in a 2A Boys Regional Playoff. The first game was on Friday evening at 6 p.m. vs. the hometown Maidstone Huskies, ranked number 2 in the Province.

Matthew Makowsky, a Grade 4 elementary student at Canora Junior Elementary School, picked up gold medal victory in his age group at the recent NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) held in Edmonton.

The Preeceville Pats midget hockey team brought home the B-side banner after playing in a best-of-three games series against Grenfell. The first game was held in Grenfell on March 9 with the Pats suffering a loss with a final score of 4 to 3.

The Preeceville Pats bantam hockey team is still in the race for the A-side banner in the Minor Hockey League. In a best-of-three match-up, the first game was held in Yorkton on March 21 with a 3-1 win.
