Winners determined regional contenders

In one of the more disappointing, if not bizarre ways for a hockey game to be decided, the Outlook Ice Hawks were eliminated from the SHA Provincials against Watrous after going on the road last weekend.

The Saskatchewan Valley Hockey League (SVHL) recently announced the recipients of their Player Awards, highlighting the best and brightest on the ice for the 2016/17 season.

Seventeen rinks were entered in the Preeceville open bonspiel, which was held from February 26 to March 4. 鈥淭his was our last bonspiel of the season," said Sheldon Luciw.

The Preeceville Boars basketball team won the 2016-2017 All-Filipino Championship in winter basketball tournament organized by the Parkland Filipino Canadian Association Inc. (PFCAI) held at Dr. Brass School in Yorkton.

The Preeceville atoms hockey team concluded its season of league games with a win at home in Preeceville on March 10 against Melville with a win of 6 to 2.

Yorkton was well represented on various Team Canada Selects football teams, who competed in Florida during winter break. Players tried out for the teams back in November.

On March 4-5, the Yorkton Blitz Volleyball Club hosted a 16U Saskatchewan Volleyball Association sanctioned volleyball tournament.

Each month a male and a female student is selected as the SHHS Saint of the Month. Saint of the Month students are nominated by staff and students of SHHS.
