Break in the weather much appreciated

A break in the weather at last, and we're not getting as much snow as many other places. New York City has had 40 inches of snow in 2014. England's floods are also unreal and putting a strain on all resources.

Hillcrest raises funds for Telemiracle

It's Telemiracle season. This year's annual province-wide televised fundraiser will be held March 1 and 2 in Regina, and local organizations throughout the Battlefords will be sending in their contributions.

The Borden Lions are holding a book drive of new and good quality used books and magazines for children and adults for the new Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon.

Street cleanup crew deserves pat on the back

Cribbage was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 27 with high score going to Denise Newton and low to Dorothy Schwartz, who also supplied lunch. Bingo was played Jan. 29 with Jean Hartman and Shannon Smith doing the calling.

Sunshine an inspiration

Sunny skies shined down on sunny faces as members of the Battlefords Art Club met at Don Ross Centre Tuesday. What a glorious day to meet and share ideas. We enjoyed the enthusiasm of MacKenzie, a granddaughter of mine from Saskatoon.

Action Now seniors celebrate birthdays

Forty members of the North Battleford Action Now Seniors' Club did not let a snowy, blustery day stop them from attending the birthday luncheon held Feb. 12 at noon.

Weather shuts down seniors' bingo

Bingo at Maidstone Drop In Centre was cancelled Feb. 12 as it was a very stormy day. The January-February potluck birthday luncheon was held at noon on Valentine's Day.
