Young people back in the rink

By the time this column is published it will be Hallowe'en. Hope everyone enjoys the day especially the children! Monday was a holiday for the school students, giving them a long weekend. Activities are in full swing at the Maidstone skating rink.

Sons of Norway fundraiser for scholarship awards

Nisse Lodge held their annual soup and pie night Oct. 17, with proceeds for the Sons of Norway Foundation. This is a Canadian scholarship program with 10 students earning a $800 bursary toward higher education.

Thanksgiving hosts and visitors

Denise Newton and her sister Daphne Woodall of Saskatoon spent Thanksgiving in Red Deer, Alta. Tillie Linkert spent Thanksgiving in Loon Lake with her family. Jean Stewart had Thanksgiving supper with Bill and Marion Stoughton.

Full head table for birthday luncheon

Bingo was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Oct. 8 with Joan Smith and Bev Stewart doing the calling. Lunch was prepared by Joan Smith. The centre was decorated for Thanksgiving and Halloween by Jean Hartman. Cards were played Oct.

There's been a feeling of winter in the air this week. We have had frost for a few nights and strong northwest winds which made the days feel colder than the 10C temperatures. There have been lots of clouds as well.
