Maymonts Legend 2014 - 130 people joined us for our dinner show and others joined us just for our evening of entertainment. Thank you to all those who attended, the musicians, Cando Catering and you, the supporters. What can I say? It totally amazes me how many people support an event like this; thank you again.
What does the money we raise at these events go to? So far this year we were able to purchase some new tables, extensive work was done in our basement and also the outside of the hall has partially been painted. The front doors are new and painted and other small things were done to the hall. Without your support this would not be possible.
And thank you to all of those who volunteer for this event and all the other events we have in the hall. Many will be shocked to find, When the day of judgment nears, That there's a special place in Heaven, Set aside for volunteers. Furnished with big recliners, Satin couches and footstools, Where there are no committee chairmen, No yard sales or rest area coffee to serve, No library duty or bulletin assembly, There will be nothing to print or staple, Not one thing to fold or mail, Telephone lists will be outlawed. But a finger snap will bring Cool drinks and gourmet dinners And rare treats fit for a king. You ask, "Who'll serve these privileged And work for all they're worth?" Why, all those who reaped the benefits, And not once volunteered on Earth.
Congratulations to Michael Ducharme and Shantel McGonigal Trayhorn on their son, Chase Taylor Leys Ducharme, born Oct. 14, seven pounds, 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long. Proud grandparents are Brian and Shirley Ducharme and great-grandma Bernice Ducharme.
I was asked by a family member of Judy Gallie if I would put this in the paper. I know we had wished Judy a happy birthday but I would like to add to this.
Judy was the guest of honour for her surprise 65th birthday supper at O'Grady's Golf & Country Club, Oct. 12. Her husband Garry, Judy's daughter Corrine, son-in-law Arnold and their daughter Billy, Judy's dad Tom Caldwell and Garry's daughter Shelly were the other guests who attended. Judy's four children gave her a trip to Las Vegas, to take place Feb. 8, 2015, accompanied by Judy's two daughters Corrine Smith and Kimberly Stacey Hayne. Eighteen red and white roses and lots of food, gifts and cards completed the evening.
