There's been a feeling of winter in the air this week. We have had frost for a few nights and strong northwest winds which made the days feel colder than the 10C temperatures. There have been lots of clouds as well.
It seems very quiet without the sound of combines. It is good to see the many fields that have been harrowed after harvest.
Snow has been forecast for parts of the country but we have only had a few snowflakes so far.
Christine Pike and her sister Maureen Bexson returned late last week from a visit to Ontario where they were guests of a long-time friend, Betty Andersen at Puslinch. Betty grew up in Forest Bank. Her parents Wilfred and Eva Tasker farmed here so Betty spent a number of her school years attending Forest Bank School.
Besides enjoying a visit with Betty and her family members, Maureen and Christine enjoyed several interesting events. One was the first ever speckle park cattle sale, sponsored by the Ontario Cattle Breeders Association and held at Listowell. With Maureen and Christine having been very involved with speckle park cattle, they were warmly welcomed by the breeders there.
Another interesting time was spent visiting Ontario's Royal Botanical Gardens.
Betty has always been very involved in her community and this year was awarded the Puslinch Township Volunteer Award, mainly for her work with the historical society. Congratulations, Betty!
