Hafford drama entertains audience

Once again, the junior and senior students of Hafford Central School amazed the audience with their acting skills April 3. The performances were held in conjunction with the 14th Annual Art and Drama Extravaganza.

Lenten lunches continue in Cut Knife

Our second Lenten Lunch was held at the United Church in Cut Knife, with Elsie Sawatzky giving a very moving message from Father Doan of the Catholic Church and Gisele Brackenbury reading John 9:1-14 and Ephesians 5:8-14 for us.

MJS students are kept busy with many activities

The Marsden Jubilee School Cooking Club has been busy making sloppy joes, homemade French fries and rainbow cupcakes. The children have really enjoyed making, and tasting, their food and the school has had some mouth-watering smells.

Guest speakers at Hillsdale RM spring ratepayers' meeting

Sincere sympathy is extended to the friends and family of Garry James Poppleton, who passed away suddenly in Saskatoon on Sunday, April 3 at the age of 68. He was born in Cut Knife in October 1942.

Surprise birthday party celebrations

Curtis Sutherland is spending this week in Saskatoon where he is attending a Level One water course. Our condolences to Wendy and Angus McFadyen on the death of Wendy's mother, Gwen Holland of Maidstone.

Baljennie formerly a ghost town

Baljennie became a ghost town for a few years, but three interested families moved in and it grew up from a ghost town to a small town with a population of close to 10 people.

Lots to see and do on Hawaiian cruise

Colleen and Norma Wicks left Speers March 12 for their trip to Hawaii, flying from Saskatoon to Denver, then on to San Diego where they spent the night. They left San Diego the next day on the Holland America ship Vaandam.

Hoping into spring

Finally I think it is safe to say that spring is here. The guys were talking about the crow storms ( the storm that always comes after the arrival of the crows) but this year I think we are going to be spared. The last of the snowbirds are here.
New minister welcomed by church

New minister welcomed by church

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church is welcoming a new minister - the first they've had in over seven years. On March 18, the church held a special induction service for their new spiritual leader, Reverend Joye Platford.
