Arts board pumps $28,000 into NW projects

Two North Battleford schools, Cando Community School and a Paynton artist have been awarded a total of $28,000 in grants by the Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Happy New Year from Swift Mount Light Horse 4-H Club Unit One. We ended 2010 and began 2011 with a bang. The Unit One members have been busy with project meetings, making halters and developing their record books. Dec. 11, we had our Christmas party.

Manitou Evangelical Free Church held a potluck luncheon Jan.23. This was a fundraiser for a the EFC Canada Women's National Project - La Casa Mariposa. This is a safe shelter for little girls and young women in Bolivia.

Winter is already half over

We are now well into a new year and getting everything back to normal. Days are getting longer, which is welcome and, since we are halfway through winter, spring feels not too far away. The first RM of Glenside Recreation Board meeting was held Jan.

Auxiliary notes

The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary No. 142, assisted by the men, held a cribbage and kaiser tournament Jan. 22. Although there weren't many players, an enjoyable afternoon was shared. Beef on a bun was available and was very good.
