Valleyview Tower II residents out and about

Hi there! April came in like a lamb, so nice and sunny. Thank goodness we saw the last of March with its bitter cold winds and dreary days. Hopefully from now on we will be getting some lovely spring weather.

Lately some of our tenants have been out visiting. Mary Dearborn spent several days with her son in Unity. I'm sure you had a nice time together, Mary.

Alice Bernier travelled to Vermillion to cat-sit for her daughter. Pets can be such good company so I hope you enjoyed your time with kitty, Alice.

Harry Smith will soon be "Grampa" again. His daughter from Lloydminster is expecting a baby in a couple of weeks. You can bet Harry will be in Lloyd for that great event.

Ann Ewanchuk has sold her Whitkow Hotel to a young gentleman, Craig Guigon. Now we will see her more often at entertainment functions in the Tower, which will be nice. She had a goodbye party given to her by daughter Erenka and her daughter-in-law. Many friends came to wish her farewell.

In the evening her grandchildren Roma and Guy Bourelle drove her to Mayfair to a supper theatre. Her son Roman was one of the comedians in The Hillbillies, causing much laughter. Later, she was grateful when her family helped her remove all her belongings from the hotel.

Ann is kept busy as a member of the Senior and Ukrainian Women's Association. Ann also goes to River Heights Lodge to visit her friends, Ann K., Sylvia B. and Lena K.

At the beginning of April Ann will undergo a second hip replacement. That means no more activities for a while.

Spring is around the corner and the excitement will be great when grandson Nicholas with wife Lindsey and little Callie Ann move to North Battleford.

Our birthday party for March and April was held March 21. Congratulations and best wishes go to all our celebrants. Those with March birthdays are June Irving, Fred Marchewka, Joe Herman, Joan Blixrud, Mary Dearborn, Laurine Wohlberg, Eleanor Matthews, Evelyn Lang. April birthdays celebrated were Ernest Wawryk, Winifred Webb, Jennifer O'Hanlong, Hilda Andres, Josephine Wood, William Gall, George Milnthorp, Olga Ruzesky, Alpha Schmirler and Thelma Kendall.

We were delightfully entertained by Don Mclean who favoured us with some of the old favourites on the piano. Song sheets were given out and we had fun singing along, all together.

Then we enjoyed a visit with dessert, coffee and tea.

Our very deepest sympathy goes to Don Hilsendager and family on the death of mother and grandmother Liz Hilsendager. She was such a lovely lady and could still dance the polka in her nineties. We will miss her very much as she had lived here many years.

This is all the news for now. Get out and enjoy the sunshine, everyone.
