Sixty-two Canora NASP archers took part in the southern provincials on April 29 at the Yara Center in Moose Jaw.

The Parkland Expos midget AAA baseball team of the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League had their home opening games last weekend. The Expos hosted four games at the Jubilee Baseball Park on Saturday and Sunday.

The rivalry between Yorkton and Melville is no more – in female hockey at least. The Melville Minor Hockey Association and Yorkton Minor Hockey have joined forces and have announced the Parkland Female Hockey Program.

The WHL announced their awards for the 2016/2017 season last week. The winner of the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy (D-man of the year) was awarded to Ochapowace First Nation’s Ethan Bear of the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The 2017 WHL bantam draft took part last Thursday and not surprisingly, it turned out to be a good draft for Yorkton hockey players. Four athletes were chosen from Yorkton: Ryder Korczak, Jackson Berezowski, Massen Ziola and Austin Dycer.

More than 60 youngsters aged four years and up were registered as of last week to play with Kamsack Minor Ball this season, which began Monday.

At least three organized groups of soccer players will be active beginning this week: the year-round soccer players who will be moving out-of-doors; a mini-soccer group, and an after-school soccer program.

A four-year-old member of the Norquay Skate Club was named winner of the Duso Skater of the Month award for March. William Salisbury, who was nominated by Kaeley Kish, the club’s president, received a bursary of $100 and a certificate.
