Duso recognizes a skater who works hard, loves what he or she does and is a great role model and ambassador for skating, Kish said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to even describe why he deserves this award,鈥 Kish said in her nomination papers. 鈥淭his little boy started in PreCan last year with an abundance of caution and leeriness to be on the ice.

鈥淲ill is now in Stage 1 and although that caution is still there, his determination is increasing,鈥 Kish said. 鈥淗is confidence in himself is growing and that鈥檚 90 per cent of the battle when learning new skills.

鈥淲ill is a part of our skate club and has also joined our community鈥檚 IP hockey team,鈥 she said. 鈥淗e should be nothing less than an inspiration to anyone who is learning something new and isn鈥檛 out to be a star but to just be there because you love it.

鈥淭his is what makes William a good skater,鈥 she said.
