Aug. 4, 2014 is the 100th Anniversary of Canada's entry in World War One.

A quick trip to Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming last week turned out well. I travelled with my daughter Joyce Rowland and our Kiwi cousins Michele and Andrew Willis.

After some welcome rain towards the end of last week, the sun shone for most of Sunday and the forecast was for "hot" weather during the coming week - quite a change.

The Battlefords Art Club has a long history of supporting visual arts in the community. It promotes exhibits of local work with the aim of encouraging its members in developing their potential for creating satisfying artwork in any medium.

More then 1,700 people visited this year's Saskatchewan Handcraft Festival in Battleford. Held at the Alex Dillabough Centre, 30 exhibitors offered their products for sale Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It is very interesting to receive the front page of the business section of the Regina Leader Post from a former Waseca resident, Bob Douglas, who now resides in Saskatoon.

Relatives and friends of the Lundell family, who lived north of Maidstone, gathered at the Maidstone Museum July 10. Following a luncheon provided by the family, those attending were given guided tours of the museum village buildings.

July 1 was celebrated at the Maidstone Museum grounds July 1 on a beautiful summer day. The parade was led by a local RCMP and his son at 10 a.m.

The picture of the Sons of Norway picnic in last week's paper didn't identify the girls. The one in the yellow top is Marion Ottas and the other is Charlene Alexander, both Arlene Walker's daughters.
