It is very interesting to receive the front page of the business section of the Regina Leader Post from a former Waseca resident, Bob Douglas, who now resides in Saskatoon.

It is very interesting to receive the front page of the business section of the Regina Leader Post from a former Waseca resident, Bob Douglas, who now resides in Saskatoon. The front page featured a picture and interview with Sean Hamelin, also a former Waseca resident who lived with his parents and siblings in Waseca for a number of years. He attended Waseca School during his elementary school years and enjoyed all the sports and other events that took place in those years.

Sean is now living with his family in Regina. He is district manager for Pool Construction Co. Ltd. that was awarded the contract for building the new Mosaic Stadium in Regina. The interview was a positive one. Sean said that since not many people know where Waseca is, just a little town next to Maidstone, so he says he grew up in the Maidstone area. Sean also said that, from a builder's perspective, building a stadium is a once a lifetime or once-in-a-career opportunity. It's a fantastic opportunity.

Arlee Lumgair accompanied her grandson, Arlan Lumgair, to the Calgary Stampede where he took part in rodeo. He also appeared on the front of the Calgary Herald. He was interviewed by a reporter and had pictures taken with his idols in the rodeo business.

Arlan and his mother went on to Kerrobert where Arlan took part in a rodeo. He tied for first place in his event on Sunday and was awarded with the Kerrobert belt buckle.

In the meantime Arlee went to Bentley, Alta. to visit with Don and Carol Hamelin, former Waseca residents.

Fourteen people attended the automatic emergency defribulator course given by Louise Hume at the Waseca Community Centre recently. The defribulator has been received and is to be placed in the Waseca Rink. Keys will be available. Contact Waseca Village Office for further information.

"Day With the Dinosaurs," a mobile play group through Rivers West Recreation, based in North Battleford, arrived at Waseca July 17 and set up at PR3 Park where 18 children ages five to 11 were ready to take part in many recreational activities including crafts and games. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. The Waseca Recreation Board provided lunch for the participants.

Another "Day With the Dinosaurs" will take place at the same location Aug. 21. Anyone wishing to attend should pre-register with Waseca Village Office.

July 30 at 7:00 p.m., there will be another public meeting at the Waseca Community Centre. This meeting will be regarding amendments to the official community plan and zoning bylaw. Anyone in the village is free to make a presentation at this meeting.

Grace Flewell of Red Deer, Alta. and Bruce and Sheila Sutherland of Gibsons, B.C. visited with Sutherland relatives in the village last weekend for a few days. Part of the time was spent honouring Bruce on his birthday. A family barbecue, at which he was guest of honour, was enjoyed.
