Some people might not notice the shop. It's a little hole-in-the-wall store on 13th Avenue with a modest sign hanging above the door. But once you get inside, customers are overwhelmed by the sounds of dogs and cats living their lives.

Next time you swing past your favourite farmers' market, have a guess at how long it's been around. If you figure 10 or even 15 years, you're probably guessing low- way low. In this province, farmers' markets are anything but recent.

The Don Ross Centre was the scene this week for "Shared History to Shared Hope," hosted by Living Sky School Division in partnership with Dance Saskatchewan, Allen Sapp Gallery, Elder and Sunchild Law. It started at 1 p.m.

Our Sons of Norway members rented a van for a five-day trip to the Hostfest in Minot, North Dakota, leaving on Sept. 29. Eight of us stayed at a private home while two lodged with another family.

Next Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. in the Meota Library, there will be a guest speaker. First-time author Eugenie Davidson is from Meadow Lake and she will be doing some reading from her new book Choosing to Bloom.

Bingo was played Sept. 24 with a nice turnout. Joan Smith and Jean Hartman did the calling. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan. Cabbage was played Monday, Sept. 29 with Lil McMillan hosting and providing lunch.

Be thankful folks! When you see the disease, conflict and natural disasters in other parts of the world, we need to be thankful for the stable, peaceful, beautiful province and country we live in. Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. St.
