The Borden Co-op held a new manager's garage sale at the hardware store, Aug. 13, with many specials and prizes and the Borden Dance Club held a barbecue throughout the day. Winning door prizes were Lorne Hunchak, Gil Gerster and Lorraine Lajoie.

First farmers' market held

Waseca's first farmers' market was held Aug. 13. Although there were not many tables, those who brought produce and baking did well. People came throughout the day, many coming for lunch as well. The next farmers' market will be held Aug. 27.

Colleen and Norman Wicks having a busy summer

Colleen and Norman Wicks attended a 100th anniversary homecoming July 21 at Goodwater, Sask., for Goodwater, Colgate and the R.M. of Lamond. Norman was born at his grandparents' home in Goodwater and his grandmother was the local telephone operator.

Cleanup still continuing after July storm

The weekend weather brought us a few sun showers with thunder and lightning. Crops are turning colour. If the good weather holds, perhaps harvest will be earlier than in recent years. People are continuing to clean up after the July 18th windstorm.

History of the Masonic Hall

Masonry is a part of the fabric of the Battlefords. Two Lodges were formed by the early settlers moving to the area. Battle Lodge #19 was formed in the late 1800s in Battleford and, in North Battleford, the Ionic Lodge #31 in 1906.
