Provincial Zone Bantam Softball this weekend

Unity is proud to have been chosen to host the Provincial Zone Bantam Boys' and Girls' Softball Championship. Teams have been practicing and playing since July when teams were selected.

A bike rally was held Aug. 20, starting from the Maymont Hotel with the route following Highway 16 to almost Saskatoon, then via Martensville to Blaine Lake and over Highway 376 south back to Maymont.

The second of the two farmer's markets scheduled to take place at Waseca Community Centre was held Aug. 27. The small number of vendors had a successful day again.

Taste of autumn in the air

The last few days the air has had an "autumn" feel. The days are already much shorter, the birds are flocking and some have already gone. As one travels the area some fields have been swathed and the odd field has been combined.

Quiet summer at the centre

Regular Maidstone Drop In Centre activities have been curtailed for the month of July and August. The July-August birthday supper was held Aug. 19. Some seniors arrived at 3 p.m.

Weed control in the RM of Glenside

Weed control officer John Hammond for the RM of Glenside has made his annual trip through the area to control the hard-to-kill weed patches. He had the past pest control officer, Jim Carr, with him to show where to go to those patches.
