Hi there! We finally got a lovely rain on the last weekend of April. It was reported over a half inch. I'm sure everyone was smiling, especially the farmers who were worried about the dry conditions.

Battlefords resident Elaine Wagoner is giving a benefit concert May 24 at the Battlefords Indian Métis Friendship Centre from 7 to 10 p.m. Originally from Nova Scotia, Wagoner came to North Battleford in 1990.

A celebration was held for Kay Greenslade March 31 in the Maymont Memorial Hall. Kay, a young 80-years-old, celebrated with family and friends. Kay was married to Harold Albert Greenslade Sept. 23, 1959 in All Saints Anglican Church.

John Paul II's Drama Club put on an amazing performance of the Alan Haehnel play, One Hundred Lies. The production was directed by Lindell Gateley and Gordon Znack, and the club spent four months practising.

The Hafford branch of the Lakeland Regional Library held a Ukrainian Easter egg (pysanky) decorating workshop after school for children aged five to 11 years. Classes began March 6 and were held weekly until Easter.

Snowbirds returning home for the season

It was getting dry until the rain that soaked up most of Sunday. It is true that April showers bring May flowers and that an inch of rain is better than a foot of snow. It is good to see a few more snowbirds home for the season.
