The principal violist with the Saskatoon Symphony will be the featured guest at the latest "Music for the Soul" recital, presented by local artists Jaya Hoy and Lisa Hornung.

Scheduled for Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Third Avenue United Church in North Battleford, the recital is sure to be exciting, says Hoy.

James Legge became the principal violist with the Saskatoon Symphony after completing his studies at McGill University. While living in Montreal he won chamber music prizes in the Jeunesses Musicales and CIBC competitions.

In Saskatoon, Legge performs regularly as the violist in the Saskatoon Symphony Chamber Players, and has been featured soloist with the Saskatoon Symphony, Saskatchewan Chamber Orchestra and with Prairie Virtuosi.

He has a private studio of approximately 30 violin and viola students, and as a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, teaches in the Saskatoon Suzuki String Program.

This is the second season of "Music for the Soul," a recital series presented by pianist Hoy and mezzo-soprano Lisa Hornung. Both have enjoyed internationally-based careers and have used their contacts to put together exciting and high-profile concerts for Battlefords residents, including local, national and international talent.

Audience attendance continues to grow as "Music for the Soul" becomes more well-known.
