Battlefords resident Elaine Wagoner is giving a benefit concert May 24 at the Battlefords Indian Métis Friendship Centre from 7 to 10 p.m.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Wagoner came to North Battleford in 1990. The fundraiser is for seven organizations with a personal connection to Wagoner. Money raised will be split between Interval House, Big Brothers Big Sisters, mental health at the hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Mental Health Association, local food bank and, finally, the Battlefords Indian-Métis Friendship Centre.

Wagoner has previously performed at the Friendship Centre, and this concert will feature four half-hour sets. Wagoner, her son Derrick and Valerie Montgomery-Bull will each sing, with music ranging from Celine Dion to Nova Scotian music. The event will also feature a comedian.

The last hour will feature a luncheon of Nova Scotian food.

Tickets, which are $10 per person and $20 per family, are currently on sale. Anyone interested can purchase tickets at the Canadian Cancer Society, the Battlefords Indian-Métis Friendship Centre, or from Elaine at 446-2288.
