An enthusiastic group of 14 members of the Battlefords Art Club met at the Don Ross Centre Tuesday for painting. We were pleased to have Kay back after a winter away. Kathy Wisner from the United States was also here to visit.

Rural correspondent back in action after a fall

It is a few weeks since I last wrote a column for the Regional Optimist. An accidental fall in which I broke my right wrist as well as my right hip have been responsible.

Retreat festival draws 350 supporters

The sun broke through the dark clouds in the early morning May 25, which led many to breathe a sigh of relief. The second annual music festival was held that day at Leipzig Serenity Retreat, which is a five-week residential drug and alcohol facility.

Eiling Kramer was born on July 14, 1914 to Dutch immigrants, Minne Dowe Kramer and Jacobina Kramer (Kopinga), in Highworth in the North Battleford district. The family included a brother, Herman, and a sister, Maria.

The students and staff at Neilburg Composite School have been very busy recently. According to Miss Johnson and Mrs. Newport, the Grade 5 and 6 students headed to Maidstone May 1 to participate in the annual floor hockey tournament.
