The end of August in Yorkton means one thing - football season. Saturday marked the beginning of the season for several Yorkton teams as there were three games played at Century Field.

The 16-year-old grandson of a Cote First Nation couple is making a name for himself this summer as a fastball pitcher.

Early on Sunday morning, select roads around Yorkton were closed to traffic as runners littered the streets to take part in the Yorkton Health Foundation鈥檚 11th annual charity road race. An impressive total of $18, 435 was raised this year.

Over the weekend of July 14-16, the Canora mosquito baseball team travelled to Tisdale to participate in the Mosquito Provincial Playoffs, said Jennifer Sleeva, coach.

The Preeceville and District Slo-Pitch League鈥檚 season came to a close on July 25 with Balls Deep recording seven wins and no losses. Teams were: Balls Deep, Skeeters, Renslip, Thunder Monkeys, Parkland Pounders, Scared Hitless and Fully Loaded.

The 2017 edition of the Theodore Super Swamper was held Friday and Saturday. The two-day event included both truck and ATV mud flings, as well as having the Saskatchewan Rush monster ride truck on site, along with food and refreshments.

What better way to spend a Sunday than on the golf course with your family? On Sunday, 88 golfers did just that as they participated in the second annual Parent & Child Golf Tournament, put on by ReMax at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton.
