Parents and children team up and tee off

On Sunday, 88 golfers did just that as they participated in the second annual Parent & Child Golf Tournament, put on by ReMax at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton.聽

One child and one adult (parent, grandparent, etc.) teamed up to take on other teams in their division. The divisions were split between 10 and under, and 11 and over, and then broken down into groups of son/father, son/mother, daughter/father and daughter/mother.聽

The golfers played nine holes of golf, and then enjoyed a large group supper at the golf course.聽

Robert Kozak was the event organizer.

鈥淲e have a really good turn out this year,鈥 he said before the tournament began on Sunday. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just a fun day. It鈥檚 a good way to get parents out with their kids on the golf course.鈥澛

One family from Whitewood traveled to Yorkton to take part in the tournament, and it was their second time doing so.聽

Scott and Ameena Hamilton, and their kids Nessah and Reese, were looking forward to getting out on the course.聽

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a great family day. It鈥檚 a neat idea by ReMax, and it鈥檚 great to do something with the kids,鈥 said Scott.聽

Nessah said that she and her brother typically golf every day at home, but this is a different course than they鈥檙e used to.聽

Not only did the Hamilton family compete last year, but both sets won their division.聽

Ameena and Nessah won their age group in the mother/daughter event, and Scott and Reese took home the trophy for their age group in the father/son event. But they all agreed that they had a very lucky day in the tournament last year.

This year, they decided to switch up their teams and have mother/son and father/daughter, and hoped for the same kind of luck.聽
