Trade show welcomes spring

The snow may still be falling but the season is changing and with spring comes the Maidstone Chamber of Commerce's 27th Annual Trade Fair. The show will run Saturday April 2 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday April 3 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

No help for neglected animals

Abandoned and neglected animals is an issue that has been plaguing Little Pine First Nation for some time and, with both the Saskatchewan SPCA and the RCMP saying their hands are tied, there doesn't seem to be a solution in sight.

Double whammy

North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services had a busy afternoon March 18, as they responded to two fender-benders on the same avenue, less than 20 minutes apart. The first accident occurred a little after 2:30 p.m.

Sex offender extradited

Lon Patrick Ritzo is back in Saskatchewan to answer to a number of charges. The 64-year-old man had been charged by North Battleford RCMP for possession of child pornography and assault in 2006.

Luck of the draw

It seems everybody's getting rich but us. Eileen Turchenek of Luseland struck her luck when she won $25,000 on a scratch and win ticket. "I didn't think I had won a big prize at first," said Turchenek.
