The Blaine Lake Composite School junior boys curling team participated in the Prairie Spirit School Division Junior Boys Division Curling playoffs Feb. 15 and 16 at the Waldheim Curling Arena.

The Blaine Lake rink lost its first game Tuesday but won the second draw earning them the opportunity to advance to the Wednesday draws.

After a restful night, the Blaine Lake rink returned to the Waldheim rink eager to display their curling skills and prepared for the elimination process. Curlers Wednesday faced immediate elimination upon a loss. The boys won all four of their draws Wednesday to advance in the finals that evening.

Blaine Lake defeated Clavet in the final draw to earn the Central Valley Athletic Association Division Championship title and medal.

Scott Farquharson, BLCS principal, was impressed with the boys' level of professionalism and ability to remain focused especially during the five draws Wednesday. It is a challenge for any curler to remain enthusiastic and focused after four draws, he said, including these junior high students.

It was a clear indication of team work ethic and skill which coach, Jim Joanette, had instilled in the players.

The Blaine Lake rink consisted of Jadon Pool, Dylan Pool, Michael Horner, Adam Hoehne and Garrett Woytiuk.
