Unity RCMP thanked a number of male high school students, mostly football team members, who helped patrol the town Halloween evening. No incidents of wilful damage or property destruction were reported, and it was referred to as “the best Halloween ever” since the Town of Unity had been policed by the RCMP.
Phyllis and George Wildeman and Joe Wildeman opened a new furniture store in Unity, Unity Home Furnishings. Grand opening specials included a five-piece kitchen suite – table and four chairs – for $88.
Keller Equipment Ltd. also held its great opening celebrations, with 20 lucky attendees to win a free record album. Snowmobile oil was on special for $13.98 a case.
Chief commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission, H. D. Pound described the quality of the 1974 crop as “the worst in history.”

The Town of Macklin held its last Remembrance Day service, with the Macklin Legion closing its doors for good Nov. 12.
The McLurg High School Broncs football team made it all the way to the provincial semifinals, where they lost to Raymore. Graduating players were Miles Scott, Matthew Schwebius and Jesse Natske.
Unity Girl Guides and Brownies sorted and folded over 1,780 blankets, toques, mitts, sweaters and jackets collected in Unity, Wilkie, Luseland, Denzil and Landis for Sask Energy’s “Share the Warmth” campaign.
Nick Pernitsky, goalie for the Unity Miners, had a shutout in the opening game of the season. The Miners were on the road in Luseland, winning the game 6-0.
