Young family loses home to fire

Some days I wonder how to start. A case of "writer's block" is an unpleasant feeling especially when I feel my ramblings mean nothing to anyone but myself. However, I will start with my observations of the spring farming activities.

Family and friends gathered in Saskatoon at Hope Fellowship Church April 16 for a lunch to celebrate Elaine Milman's 80th birthday. Elaine greeted everyone as they arrived and time was spent visiting.

Spring arrives quickly

When spring comes here, it comes quickly. The past week we have seen the leaves come out on the trees and the grass grow quickly. More wild flowers are blooming, including the beautiful, dainty, purple violets I have growing in my house yard.

Bridge work ties up local traffic

The only wooden timber bridge left on the main grid road had to have the top removed so some of the main girders and beams beneath could be replaced. A nearby beaver dam was also demolished. The bridge work did hold up the traffic for a few hours.

The Allen Sapp Gallery gift shop is currently featuring the work of Mervin artist Karlie King. Karlie was born and raised in Saskatchewan, but has spent much time in other parts of Canada and has travelled overseas.

Early this spring Mary Linnell attended a community theatre in Speers. The play, A Little Piece of Heaven written by Matthew Carlin, takes place in a small antique shop where people find things they have been searching for.
