Monday, Unity was fortunate to have a big announcement made at the ball diamonds. The venue was appropriate because of all the activity the area enjoys this time of year.

JPII poet wins prize

Veronica Kmiech of Battleford has been selected as the second prize winner from Grade 12 students in the 2010-11 national student poetry contest held by Polar Expressions Publishing.

Rugby club plans Ireland trip

Several local youths are playing with the Lashburn Rugby Club. The team is planning a trip to Ireland at Easter next year. To raise money for their trip, the boys held a village wide bottle drive June 13.

Ten members of the Baljennie Community Co-operative Hall Ltd. met June 13 at the community centre for one of the final meetings to end the co-operative part of the community club.
