Bride showered at Ruddell

Jolene Gabrysh was guest of honour at a bridal shower May 28 in the Ruddell Centre hosted by her aunt, Lynette Schmidt, and Jolene's friend and bridesmaid, Jessica Gray. Lynette welcomed everyone and read a short history of Jolene's life to date.

WDM volunteer honoured

Roger Giesbrecht, a volunteer at the Western Development Museum Volunteer Association, became a Volunteer Lifetime Member on Thursday. Bob Zurowski, the president of the WDM Volunteers Association, presented the award to Giesbrecht.

Michael Soloski, citizen of the year

Sherri Solomko submitted the following in her bid to have Michael Solski honoured as Unity's Citizen of the Year. Solski was presented the award at a banquet and program June 4 during Unity's Western Days.

Market swings into a new season

Paynton Farmers' Market opened their doors Tuesday to many new faces as well as the loyal customers of past years. The market was filled with beautiful booth presentations from all of the vendors, each one with different fare.

Yellowknife inspires more stories to tell

Yellowknife seemed so far away, off the beaten track. Did I know anyone who'd been there? I remembered a young artist from Regina going up to work for a few months who stayed for a few years naming her first born daughter after a northern river.

Finches add to a colourful yard

This week I saw goldfinches for the first time this spring. The yellow warblers are also here, so between the two they make quite a splash of color.

May activities begin with Mother's Day breakfast

Hi there! Well May wasn't a great month weather wise, but it's nice to see the lovely green grass and all the trees out in leaf now. Many have been planting their gardens and flowers around here and hoping for some rain to make things grow.
