Norman Carter's Scholastic Book Fair wrapped up March 26. The original schedule for the book fair was Wednesday, March 20 - Friday, March 22 however, with the atrocious weather that blasted our region, it was extended to the following Tuesday.

Get well wishes go out to Robert Greer on his recent back surgery at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. After his surgery, he spent a few days in Lloydminster with his youngest daughter Christine Greer.

March 18, five worthy people from Speers and Richard were honoured by receiving the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. The medals were awarded at the Seniors' Centre in Speers.

Well it has been a week of snow and blow! It has been a few years since the highways to Spiritwood and to North Battleford have both been closed. The brunt of the storm was on March 20 and continued March 21.

Vehicles lined the streets surrounding McLurg High School March 24 as approximately 400 guests flocked into the school gym to watch the Wilkie School of Dance's 20th annual dance recital.

The dance festival is being held and therefore the kitchen area of the Don Ross Centre where the Battlefords Art Club members normally meet is used, so we met today in the Chapel Gallery, which provided a different scene for us.

Maymont Seniors Center was rocking and rolling March 25. There was entertainment, stew and biscuits and desserts. Again we enjoyed the donation from Bev Thornberg of the sound system.

James Thompson Cairns, eldest son of James and Ellen (Barker) Cairns was born on Nov. 16, 1905 at Newcastle on Tyne County in Durham, England.

Seventh annual bowling tourney draws 300

SSAI has just completed its seventh annual five-pin bowling tournament in Prince Albert. Nearly 300 people, bowlers and family, joined together in the Minto Rec Center to have a great time, both bowling and visiting friends.
