Sharon United Church had a great turn out for their spring supper which was held in the school gym April 21. Thank you to all who participated and also to the volunteers who helped with the supper and those who supplied the supper.

The North Battleford Seniors Centre was abuzz this month as members gathered to participate in several activities. On April 3 an open Kaiser tournament was held with 28 people attending.

It is a pleasure to have nice warm days to be able to stroll around town without fear of falling on ice and snow. Many residents are taking advantage of this weather to be outside.

The month of May is almost with us and still we have below zero weather and piles of snow. We all appreciate a slow melt but this is a snail pace melt and it brings its own particular problems.

The Battlefords Highland Dance Association is the host club for the Saskatchewan Provincial Championship and Closed Competition Saturday and Sunday. The championship will be held at the Dekker Center starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Paynton and Maidstone fire departments along with Maidstone RCMP have been kept busy this spring with several motor vehicle incidents.

I received a phone call the evening of April 24, letting me know there was a hockey game in progress in the Edam Community Centre. Thanks to David Stuart, I was able to get photos of the final hockey game of the season on natural ice.

Global warming? Well let's see, the sun shines for more hours per day than over the last several months and yet the temperature struggles to remain over zero for many hours of the day.

The Battlefords Art Club met on the last day of April and members are hopeful spring is around the corner. An enthusiastic group of artists met in the craft room of the Don Ross Centre.
