Provincial highland dancers hosted this weekend

The Battlefords Highland Dance Association is the host club for the Saskatchewan Provincial Championship and Closed Competition Saturday and Sunday. The championship will be held at the Dekker Center starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Battlefords Highland Dance Association is the host club for the Saskatchewan Provincial Championship and Closed Competition Saturday and Sunday.

The championship will be held at the Dekker Center starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The closed competition will be at the NationsWest Field Housestarting at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. All of the events are open to the public to come and watch.

The provincial championship is held to select the top three premier dancers from seven age categories. These 21 dancers will be travelling to Montreal, Que. the first week of July to represent the province at the national championship. Winners in Montreal will then go to the world championships held each year in Scotland.

There will be three out-of-province judges coming to adjudicate 47 premier dancers. Each dancer will perform four different dances as chosen by the international body overseeing highland dance. They are the Fling, Sword, Seann Truibhas, and the Full Hullachan Reel.
