Library hosts book reading with author Lisa Guenther By Corrina Murdoch Correspondent On the evening of May 4, Medstead Library found itself packed with a crowd of avid readers and fans of visiting author Lisa Guenther.

The Cross Country Showband wanted to make a big splash with their debut on May 5 at the Bella Vista. But they also wanted to help out a worthwhile cause.

Twenty years ago, Dancing Sky theatre was a dream of getting theatre thriving in rural Saskatchewan. To celebrate 20 years of keeping theatre in Meecham at their hall, Dancing Sky is bringing back their most popular play, Dogbarked, from May 5 to 21.

It well-known to local residents, and those from surrounding communities, that Medstead hosts a rip-roaring annual celebration over the Canada Day long weekend, from June 30 to July 2.

A baby shower was held in the seniors’ room on April 22 to honour Ronan Lee, the new son of Dustin and Brittney Tracksell. Head table and gift table were nicely decorated in blue and white cloths, balloons and mini baby bottles filled with candy.

The St. James Catholic Women’s League celebrated their Patroness’, Our Lady of Good Council, feast day April 26 at St. James in Wilkie. The evening started with Mass at 5 p.m. followed by supper, entertainment and service award presentations.

In spite of the budget cuts that have been a large topic of discussion in Medstead, the local library board has put in passionate effort to preserve Medstead’s institution.

It is not often that farm families are excited to be using their combines in spring. However, a fall full of wet weather and early snow brought just such a reality to the agriculture sector in our area.

Saturday, April 22, was Earth Day around the world. The elementary students had planned to do their annual yard cleanup, but due to the rain and snowfall, the cleanup was postponed.

Cribbage was played Monday April 24 High Score went to Danice Newton and low to Ruth Enwright. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz. Bingo was played at the centre on Wednesday April 26 th with Joan Smith and Margret MacEachern doing the calling.
