The St. James Catholic Women鈥檚 League celebrated their Patroness鈥�, Our Lady of Good Council, feast day April 26 at St. James in Wilkie. The evening started with Mass at 5 p.m. followed by supper, entertainment and service award presentations.聽Service awards were presented to 11 members.聽
The 65-years pin was given to Lucie Rohs; 60 years went to Genevieve Wangler; 45 years to Elizabeth Herle, Helen I. Miller, and Valerie Risling; 25 years was received by Mary Koch and Tish Ulrich; 15 years to Shirley Holzman;聽10 years to Chelsea Risling, Rebecca Wagner, and Courtney Nielsen. As Father George said in his homily at mass that evening, 鈥淕od鈥檚 light shines through Mary, our patroness, and these women also have God鈥檚 light shining through them, through their service.鈥�
A wonderful supper was prepared by Second To None from Battleford, and entertainment was supplied by young, local talentes with musical theatre and vocal selections.聽Bari Bertoia provided musical accompaniment for some of the presentations. The performers聽聽were Jayna Bottorff, Kenzie Wildeman, Amy Gruber, Jolene Gruber, Erin Squires, Kyra Huber, Rachel Cey, Susannah Ulrich and Sophia Ulrich. There girls were winners at the Unity Music Festival and some are going on to Provincials.
Door prizes from Georgine鈥檚 Greenhouse were won by lucky attendees, and a 2018 CWL Membership was won by Jeanette Gerein. The clean up crew of four Christian Ethics students was efficient and much appreciated. We hope to see you all and more at next year鈥檚 celebration. 聽
