Close is good but it's never enough. Not in the minds of the Yorkton Pee Wee Gridders. That was the case in the first playoff showdown Saturday afternoon at Kinsmen Century Field.

The Sacred Heart senior girls' volleyball team competed at O'Neill High School in Regina this past weekend. The Lady Saints began the tournament against Miller High School of Regina. Sacred Heart won two straight winning 25-23 and 25-14.

The Sacred Heart Saints junior football team rounded out their 2010 season with a 21-6 victory over the visiting Melville Cobras last Tuesday on Sacred Heart field.

It was another fine week for the Yorkton Terriers who earned five of a possible six points this week to stay atop the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Sherwood Conference.

Pack the stands. Yorkton's first PeeWee home playoff football game since 1993. (Head coach Jason) Farrell wants to see 300 fans in the stands. Farrell's PeeWee Gridders put it to the Razorbacks in a Thanksgiving weekend showdown Sunday afternoon.

The Brandon Westman Wild senior men's football team had a little Yorkton flavour added to it for a game against the East Side Eagles of Winnipeg recently.

The Sacred Heart Saints senior football team is 1-1 on major tests this season. After a close win at Melville to open the season, the Saints have collected three straight easy wins.

Former member of the Yorkton United Futbol Club Steven DeLong has been playing university soccer for two years in Newfoundland.

With the conclusion of the summer soccer season, the Yorkton United FC would like to announcethat the Yorkton United F.C. Annual General Meeting will be held on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., downstairs at the Yorkton Legion.
