Yorkton's first PeeWee home playoff football game since 1993. (Head coach Jason) Farrell wants to see 300 fans in the stands.

Farrell's PeeWee Gridders put it to the Razorbacks in a Thanksgiving weekend showdown Sunday afternoon. They took an 18-0 lead going into halftime and never looked back, cruising to a 24-0 win.

"It was defence domination," suggests Farrell.

He said it was fun to coach.

"Uh, yeah, it was," he said. "We made some really key changes offence to defence. We still need to work a bit on the offence.

Farrell and co., are now making necessary arrangements that will see them hosting a playoff game here at home next weekend.

They took it to the Razorbacks, winning 24-0 for their first ever shutout as a squad representing Yorkton.

"It was one of those games you fully expect to win. It wasn't whether we could win or lose. The goal was to get the shutout. Farrell said Zach Kaise and Isaac Pasloski were big in the win.

Farrell added that a move of Pasloski to fullback was one of the changes they experimented with, and according to Farrell, the move made him look like Albert Einstein.

"He (Pasloski) had to learn the entire playbook in one week. He did exceptionally well."

The experiment went well.

"Very much so," claims Farrell.

What's next for his team however is something beyond what they've experienced to date.

Sunday afternoon will bring about a whole different atmosphere as the Golden Hawks visit for the playoff debut.

This is going to be like the Super Bowl for a Gridder team that stood no chance at all last season of even making the playoffs.

Farrell said he plans on making very few if any adjustments at all to an overall game plan that has produced results this season.

It's a balance of excitement of making post season, balanced with some nerves as the post season is now here.

Now the Gridder coach says he sees himself as the one who's in charge of keeping motivation up.

"We just need to work on positioning a bit," suggests Farrell.

The 'real' season has them playing one of the two teams that beat Yorkton earlier in the season.

As a result of some adjustments made in terms of finding a way to stop the pass, Farrell seems to be confident that things will perhaps turn in his favour come Sunday.

"I pride myself on being the key motivator leader on the field. I'm getting them emotionally up" for this one, he said upon the conclusion of the PeeWee Gridders' second-ever season playing for Yorkton; a season that has given them plenty of reason for optimism.

Says Farrell of playing the Golden Hawks in the 'real' season: "We knew we had to focus on pass defence. We'll be ready for that."
