The Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Senior Baseball League picked up this past week after experiencing more rainouts than usual the week before. June 20 produced three games, all played out as scheduled.

Hockey players hoping to play Junior level hockey in the fall have a new way to refine their skills this summer leading up to fall try-out camps. Yorkton Terrier Assistant Coach Casey O'Brien is hosting a summer-long program based out of Melville.

The Yorkton Cardinals were on an extended road trip this past week, playing four in Alberta and a pair in Swift Current. For the local team the results were mixed as they won two of the six Western Major Baseball League encounters.

Busy weekend for Pee Wee team

The Richardson Pee Wee Yorkton Cardinals and their Weyburn counterparts saw an awful lot of each other over the weekend. The teams met four times between Saturday and Sunday. Weyburn won three games, two of them came quite convincingly.

Rain cancellations occurred almost every second day this past week and the SESBL standings remain tight. Scheduled games for last Wednesday and Friday were rained out, including both Western Major Baseball League and the Â鶹´«Ã½AV East league.

Scholarship deal for former Cardinal

Former member of the midget AAA Cardinal baseball team Zack Sharp has accepted a baseball scholarship which will take him to Minnesota next season. Sharp, who is from Carlyle, SK., joins the college as a right-handed pitcher.

The Yorkton Bulldogs won their first set of back-to-back games over the weekend and it did not go by without a little bit of surprise. In a twist ending, their match with the Regina Riot was stopped just prior to the start of the third period.

The lacrosse Bulldogs were getting physical. They were getting goals from just about everybody in the lineup. They were playing near perfect.

The Brischuks finally got a long overdue cheerleading clinic going at Sacred Heart, hosted by the members of the SHHS cheerleaders and guided by former University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Roughrider cheerleader Alynn Brischuk.
