Former member of the midget AAA Cardinal baseball team Zack Sharp has accepted a baseball scholarship which will take him to Minnesota next season.

Sharp, who is from Carlyle, SK., joins the college as a right-handed pitcher. The team will be losing three seniors from this year's team.

Sharp said he was contacted by 88 other American schools but told Yorkton This Week that the reason he chose Crown College was "the biggest thing was the coaches" he said during an over-the-telephone talk.

By the sounds of it, Sharp is fully intent on making some noise right away.

"(I want) to make a big impact right away."

The scholarship process ended around mid-April when Sharp said he made his decision.

He said he got their attention when he hired a recruitment company to put together a video showcasing his ability and said that led to almost 100 phone calls regarding his availability for next year.

Crown College is situated on a 215-acre campus near the communities of Waconia and St. Bonifacius. Nestled among the rolling hills of one of the most beautiful lake-dotted regions of Minnesota, the college is just minutes west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The college sports teams are called the Crowns who play out of the Third Division and play out of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
