WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU), with assistance from the Joint Tactical Support Team (JTST) and Weyburn Police Service patrol officers, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on June 29 in Weyburn, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.
In addition to the traffic stop, the Criminal Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Joint Tactical Support Team, Weyburn Police Service K-9 unit, Estevan Police Service K-9 unit, and Weyburn Police Service patrol officers, executed a search warrant on a residence in Weyburn that is associated with the arrested individuals.
Deputy chief Brent VanDeSype said a noise device was used as the tactical squad entered the house, but no gun shots were fired.
As the result of the traffic stop and the execution of the search warrant, an adult female faces charges of trafficking fentanyl, possession of the proceeds of crime, and possession of a weapon; an adult male faces charges of trafficking fentanyl, possession of the proceeds of crime, and possession of a weapon; and a second adult male faces charges of trafficking fentanyl and possession of the proceeds of crime. All three adults will make their first court appearance at an upcoming court date.
