WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 85 calls for service during the period of July 31 to August 6, resulting in a total of 11 charges. Of the charges, two were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, six under the Traffic Safety Act, and three under the City of Weyburn Bylaws.
Tuesday officers were called to assist EMS with a youth who had overdosed. The youth was transported to hospital for further care.
Tuesday evening police were called to a residence after the homeowners discovered an unwanted guest in their home. A 37-year-old male was charged for being unlawfully in a dwelling.
On Monday night officers were called to the hospital to assist with a combative patient. The individual was later transferred to a mental health facility without further incident.
Weyburn Police, EMS, and Fire responded to a report of persons trapped in an elevator of an apartment building on Thursday afternoon. After finding the elevator empty, it was learned that a tenant had inadvertently pressed an emergency button while trying to move furniture into the building.
Saturday evening, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. A 58-year-old male was arrested for two outstanding warrants.
Other calls for calls for service included mental health, wellbeing checks, traffic, and noise complaints.
