This past weekend saw quite the spectator sports extravaganza in our household. Between the Waste Management golf tournament, the Scotties curling playoffs, and the NFL Super Bowl, it was a sports lover鈥檚 dream Sunday.

The East Central District Athletic Association junior mixed and junior girls district curling competitions were hosted in Sturgis on February 9 and 10.

Much excitement can be found at Preeceville School and the community because of the hatching of rainbow trout eggs and the hand-raising of the trout after they hatch.

The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Service was held on February 11 at Trinity United Church in Preeceville. The service was sponsored by the Preeceville and District Ministerial Association.

A snowmobile safety training course held at the Preeceville School on February 10 had 12 participants.

I think I鈥檝e figured out how to revive Saskatchewan鈥檚 malls. For years, it seems, malls in prairie chicken land have suffered decline. Firing a cannon down the main hall of most malls won鈥檛 cause any injury on any given weekday afternoon.

The Preeceville and District Mushers Rendezvous kicked off on February 2 with a talent show at the Preeceville Legion Hall where 11 artists and dancers were featured. Rhonda Cook was the emcee.

The Canadian Red Cross is in the process of launching a Friendly Phone Link Program in the Sturgis and Preeceville area. 鈥淭he program has been two years in the making,鈥� said Barb Biccum of Preeceville.

On February 1, the Preeceville School acknowledged its staff members for their dedication and years served in the school. Doug King, principal, and Lisa Wotherspoon, a Good Spirit School Division representative, made the presentations.
