Eye-grabbing animals on display at Outlook art gallery

Exhibit set to run at town gallery until October 23.

OUTLOOK - There are some eye-catching designs on the walls of the Outlook art gallery, located in the town offices building.

Metis artist and educator Phyllis Poitras-Jarrett's collection of creatures includes colorful patterns contained within them in 'The Spirit of Nature - Looking Beyond Yourself'.

Growing up on a farm near Last Mountain Lake, Phyllis developed a kinship with both the land and the animals that called it home when she was growing up. Through her family, she learned to appreciate the ground and the environment from which she came, and that's one of the qualities that Phyllis carries with her today as an artist.

It was because of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as her retirement from teaching that Poitras-Jarrett was given a chance to focus solely on her art, and as a result came the works that are displayed on the Outlook gallery's walls.

Appreciators of the art world will want to check out the display quickly before the show wraps up, as 'The Spirit of Nature' runs until October 23.
