The Yorkton Harvest proved they can compete with the best of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League last week, winning three in a row.

The Yorkton Bantam AA Terriers started the New Year on a bright note, grabbing three-out-of-four points in their first two games after the Christmas break.

Yorkton's Gallagher Centre hosted the Major Hockey League's bantam and midget all-star weekend on January 12. The event was a success with a great turnout of Major Hockey League fans and parents.

The Yorkton Terriers had a couple of bumps on the road on the weekend, but still lead their conference. The Terriers remain atop the SJHL's Sherwood Conference with a record of 26-10-1-2 and 55 points, three points up on Melville.

The Yorkton Regional High School has teamed up with Hockey Canada, offering a Hockey Canada Skills Academy course to their students at the start of next year. "Everyone is excited about the class," says YRHS principal Mike Haczkewicz.

It is getting to the point when radio broadcasters say 'Canada has come up short at the world junior championship,' they are going to have to follow it up with 'this is not a recording.' This year Canada took it to a new level.

The Yorkton Regional High School's Senior Raiders boys' basketball team went undefeated in their home four-team round-robin tournament this past weekend, taking all three of their games by at least 30 points.

Xtreme Cage Wars hope their first Yorkton-based event on January 19 at the Gallagher Centre will be a box office knockout. "We think we will sellout," says Dave Lochert, a promoter of the event for the Saskatoon-based organization.
