The second annual Sun鈥檚 Out Guns Out event, held by the Yorkton Wildlife Federation (YWF), took place on Saturday, June 17 at the trap and skeet shoot club.

Tailwinds, a horse farm just outside of Yorkton, was the hosting spot for more than a dozen visiting horses last weekend - most of those were Saskatchewan Clydesdales. The farm鈥檚 owner, Twylla Newton, organized a learn-to-drive clinic at Tailwinds.

The Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Major Baseball League find themselves at the bottom of the league standings after a few road losses last weekend.

Yorkdale Central School currently holds two city championship basketball titles: one for the female team and one for the male. So it鈥檚 safe to say that basketball isn鈥檛 an unfamiliar sport for the kids at that school.

The Yorkton Terriers became a team in 1972. For the past 45 years, they have held the title of the most elite hockey team in Yorkton, and they鈥檝e expanded from a team into an entire organization.

On June 16, 300 rainbow trout were added to the Logan Green Fish Pond in Yorkton. The pond is available for anyone to use for catch and release fishing. The pond was first dug up in 2012, but the first stocking of fish did not happen until 2014.

It was a big weekend for Yorkton lacrosse players. The Yorkton Fighting Pikes U19 team won the gold medal at the field lacrosse provincials in Saskatoon. The Yorkton Fighting Pikes U16 team also brought home a bronze medal.

Last week, a group of 16 students of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute left the school to participate in the school鈥檚 seventh annual outdoor education experience.

The temperature was nice and warm for Canora Minor Ball Day on June 3, but the howling wind was another story, making every pop-up and fly ball an adventure into the unknown for fielders, no matter what the age group.

The next generation of dedicated track athletes may have been on display at Outlook Elementary School last week when staff and students held their yearly track and field meet.
