The second annual Sun鈥檚 Out Guns Out event, held by the Yorkton Wildlife Federation (YWF), took place on Saturday, June 17 at the trap and skeet shoot club.聽
Cameron Nash, the chairperson of Sun鈥檚 Out Guns Out, explained that they have a few goals in mind when holding this event.聽
鈥淥ur main goal is raising awareness and money for wildlife habitat. All the funds raised today go towards purchasing land for preservation of wildlife habitat,鈥� explained Nash.聽
鈥淲e鈥檙e also trying to get new shooters involved in the sport. We have instructors on site who will take someone that鈥檚 never held a shotgun, and get them shooting at some balloons filled with cornstarch,鈥� he added.聽
鈥淲e鈥檙e getting youth involved, and just raising awareness for wildlife habitat,鈥� said Nash.聽
The YWF hosts a number of fundraisers throughout the year. The money they raise gets put into a pot, and when they have enough raised, they鈥檒l be able to purchase land for preservation of wildlife.聽
Nash explained that once they buy land, it could be used by anyone in the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation.聽
