Business owners within Canora鈥檚 downtown business core are being asked to participate in a beautification competition run by the Canora Economic Development Commission.

Members of the Good Spirit 4-H Club participated in a public speaking competition in Canora on March 6. The judges were: Betty Tomilin, Jennifer Hamilton, Ronda O鈥橠ell and Amy Wunder.

After being an employee for six years, Mathew Sleeva is now the owner of Gabora Electric in Canora. Sleeva said he wanted to keep using the same name because everybody knows Gabora Electric and the former owner, the late Jerry Gabora.

Students in Cec Machnee鈥檚 Grade 8 social studies class have been learning about the pioneers and their ingenuity to make the things they needed to survive.

The Canora Peewee Cobras defeated Wapella in the semi-final series on March 8 to advance to the Major League finals. The Peewees are the only Canora minor hockey team left in the playoffs.

The season wrapped up on March 6 when the Canora Skating Club presented its annual ice carnival to the theme of 鈥淎 Blast from the Past.鈥� Most of the groups performed two numbers on the ice.
