Community members from Carlyle, Arcola, Manor, and other districts gathered together with family members from as far away as Burbank, California to mark a once-in-a-century event, the 100th birthday of Christine Collier.

It was a magical weekend for many, with the atmosphere just right for Halloween. However, the season of creepy-crawlies and other nefarious things wasn't the only party being held in Carlyle.

A new fundraising initiative at Carlyle Elementary School proved to be a roaring success, thanks to its captive audience. The Jail n' Bail fundraiser, put on by CES' School Community Council took place throughout the day on Friday, Oct. 29.
