WEYBURN – The Weyburn Police Service responded to 81 calls for service during the period of June 13 to 19, resulting in a total of 20 charges. Of the charges, 15 were laid under the Criminal Code of Canada and five under the Traffic Safety Act.
On Monday, the Weyburn Police Service responded to a reported assault. Police attended, spoke to the individuals involved, and arrested the subject of complaint without incident. The individual was charged with assault and will appear in court at a later date.
On Tuesday, police were dispatched to an apartment building where individuals could be heard yelling and screaming at each other. Police spoke to the individuals who were having a verbal argument and were able to de-escalate the matter without further altercation.
Police received a report of a domestic assault on the evening of June 14. Police located the suspect who was found to be intoxicated. The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with assault, impaired operation of a conveyance, and failing to comply with a release order.
Police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of 18th Street and First Avenue N. The collision resulted in damage to both vehicles involved, but no injuries were reported. One driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for following too closely.
During the week, the Weyburn Police Service received several complaints of vandalism and graffiti in the city. These acts of vandalism are currently being investigated. If you have any information regarding any mischief or vandalism within the city, contact the Weyburn Police Service.
