ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service were called about vehicles stuck in city streets during the blizzard that struck the Energy City on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A number of vehicles had to be abandoned.
Crews were out in the early morning Thursday to continue clearing streets and assist with moving vehicles. They have been working ever since.
Also on Wednesday, police received a number of welfare check requests from individuals trying to contact family in the city. All were located safe.
Officers attended to a local hotel to a report of a belligerent female refusing to leave. Members were able to mediate the matter and she was allowed to rent a hotel room for the night.
Police received a carbon monoxide alarm complaint. The Estevan Fire Services was able to attend and get the house to a condition that homeowners could return. Police and Fire remind the public to ensure their direct vent heaters don’t have their vents blocked. Snow will have to be cleared away so they can get proper ventilation.
Police were called to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a disturbance. Upon speaking to the responsible person, members were able to defuse the matter and there were no further problems.
