ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service conducted SGI high-visibility check stops on Friday night.
Over 450 vehicles were checked and 20 roadside screening tests were performed. Zero impaired drivers were located. Three tickets were issued for various offences.
Also on Friday, police received a report of theft of recyclables from a residence. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a report of theft of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was just noticed to be missing and reported to police. The vehicle was later located in a rural area and arrangements were being made to have it returned to Estevan. This is also under investigation.
Officers received a report of criminal harassment. The complainant believes the individual contacted his workplace and continuously harassed him personally. It is still under investigation.
Police were contacted by the Canada Border Services Agency as they had a suspicious vehicle approach the Port of Estevan from the north. The vehicle turned around and returned north towards Estevan. Police attempted to locate the vehicle and haven’t had any success.
Members received a complaint through the Report Impaired Drivers line for a vehicle that was driving erratically. The vehicle was reportedly parked at a local business. The complainant wasn’t able to give a licence plate but did describe it as a silver SUV. Police attended to the area and were not able to locate the vehicle.
A local restaurant asked for assistance with a patron. Members attended and the individual was arrested for public intoxication, and was lodged in cells until sober.
A report came in of fireworks being set off in front of a residence in the Pleasantdale area. A description of the individuals who set off the fireworks was obtained. Members patrolled the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a complaint on March 31 of a male passed out in the lobby of an apartment building. Members attended and the male was apprehended for being intoxicated in a public place and lodged until sober.
A report came in of a female and a child at a local park. The complainant was concerned about the child’s well-being. Members attended and spoke with the female. There were no issues with the child’s safety.
The EPS received a complaint on March 30 of a counterfeit $100 bill being passed at a local lounge. Members remind the public to check all currency and to call EPS or attend your local bank if you have concerns about any currency in your possession.
