EPS makes two arrests for assault causing bodily harm

ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service arrested a couple of people for assault causing bodily harm in recent days. 

In the first instance on July 19, police attended to a disturbance in the Pleasantdale area.  Members arrested and charged a female. She was released the following day on conditions of no contact.

An Estevan male was arrested and charged on July 20 for two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count each of common assault and resisting arrest. He was brought before a justice of the peace to attempt to remand him in custody for court on July 22 in Estevan.

In other recent police news, members received a report July 17 of a suspicious vehicle at a local restaurant parking lot. Members attended and spoke with the vehicle owner.

A report came in of a suspicious person causing a disturbance outside a local business. Members attended, spoke with a female and she was sent on her way.

Police were called about a male uttering threats to harm others. The matter is under investigation.

Officers issued a summary offence ticket to a female who was consuming alcohol in public near Yardley Place. A short time later, the same female was located consuming in public for a second time. She was issued another summary offence ticket under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.

Police received a request from a landlord on July 19 about evicting a tenant. The landlord was provided with contact information for the Office of Residential Tenancies and advised to follow the procedures required by that office.

Members received a request for a well-being check on an elderly woman. Police attended her residence, and with the assistance of the property owner, gained access to the suite to find the individual asleep and okay.

Police received a report of an attempted break and enter into a dwelling. The individual responsible fled when confronted by the property owner. The matter is still under investigation.

Officers received a report of two suspicious persons in a backyard in the Westview area. Members weren’t able to locate anyone and advise the public to not leave property insecure.

Police received a report July 20 of an Amazon package being stolen off the front step of a residence in the Pleasantdale area. The matter is still under investigation.

Members were called to a witness hearing an audible alarm in the Hillcrest area. Police attended and located the source of the audible alarm. It appeared to be a faulty sensor.

Police received a request to perform a wellness check on an individual who resides in Regina. The Regina Police Service was contacted and assisted the EPS in determining the individual was okay. No further action was required.

Members received a report of a dog barking and sounding in distress at a south-end residence.  Police attended to ensure the dog was all right.

Police received a report of a familial assault. Officers attended, spoke to siblings and the matter was mediated by police. No further action was required.

Officers received a report of recyclables being stolen from a local event. The individual responsible has been identified and the matter is still under investigation with possible charges.
